Winter Collection Preview: Coats for the Cold Rooftop

Winter is the heist season. The nights are long, the windows are fogged, and the humans are asleep under four blankets. Our new winter collection is designed for the burglar who wants to look serious while freezing slightly.

The Long Dark Overcoat

A floor length coat in charcoal wool, with a high collar that covers the ears. Much admired by the neighbourhood, it is slightly too long for most cats and drags behind them like a very sad cape. We call this a feature.

The Duffle of Discretion

A short hooded duffle coat with wooden toggles. The hood is large enough for two ears and a measure of dignity. The toggles are large enough to be chewed, and many are.

The Rooftop Parka

Padded, waterproof and bright black, the parka is built for tiles, gutters and the cold ridge of a garage. It has a fur trimmed hood, which the wearer will find ironic.

The Gentleman’s Trench

A belted trench coat in dark navy, designed for the cat who wishes to appear as though he is following someone. He is actually following a moth.

Accessories for winter

  • The Scarf of Many Windings, three metres long, wound around the neck and then around the sofa
  • Fingerless mittens for four paws, which no cat has yet understood
  • The Thermal Balaclava, lined with fleece and quietly very popular on the radiator
  • A hot water bottle disguised as a briefcase

Sizing

All coats come in small, medium and large. Please measure your cat before ordering, and be aware that the measurement will change as soon as the tape appears. We suggest asking a friend to hold the tape while you pretend not to notice.

Care instructions

Wash on a cool setting, or have someone lick it for you. Do not tumble dry. Do not dry clean. Do not leave unattended in a room with a sofa, as the sofa will win.

Availability

The collection arrives in the shop in November and will be on display in the window beside Maureen the mannequin, who has been wearing the Long Dark Overcoat since September and has asked for it to be taken off.

The Cat Burglar Costume Boutique is a fictional business and these coats do not exist, although we can see that they would be very popular.
